Preview: 7NY Interview

Interview of Steve San, one of the owner of Seven New York by Ben Ross.

Tammy Faye

Last night, I watched a documentary about Tammy Faye and I learned a lot about her resolve and her tenacity . . . after all that she went through, she still had her chin up and those burnt twigs that she calls lashes!!! I mean, she was a pioneer in her own time and crazy as she may be, she was an inspiration to a lot of people . . . including me! You may not agree with her religion but you can't deny that Maybelline mascara!!!

I was distracted on their bodies and didn't pay attention on what they were saying . . . Causin' A Commotion

Calvin Klein is pushing the line again with one of its ads.
The latest Calvin Klein billboard drawing attention from pedestrians — in the intersection of East Houston and Lafayette streets in lower Manhattan seems, to some, to include a certain sexually suggestive word.
Chris, visiting New York City from Portland doesn’t think the billboard needs anything extra to attract attention. “A half naked 16-year-old should’ve been enough."- allegedly

Glad You Weren't The Only One.

I guess I wasn't the only one baffled by Alexander Wang's CFDA nomination for menswear. The designer stated in an interview with, "I got nominated and at first I was like, really?" I understand the aesthetic and fit, but it really blew my mind. Trust, I am a big fan of good basics, but come on. Talk about politics. Wang announced he would be doing a full on mens ready to wear collection and show. Guess that's appropriate. Read the full article-

Say It Ain't So!!!!

"Repeated vandalism, gunshots, graffiti, and attempted theft from Prada Marfa, Elmgreen and Dragset’s fake upscale shoe emporium in the West Texas Desert on highway 90 near Valentine, are slowly causing the artist duo to rethink their iconic project. Although it was always intended to decay, the Berlin-based team imagined it would be a “natural” process of relentless sun and wind, rather than as as a source of rural entertainment. Tired of repeatedly repairing the piece, they discussed pulling the plug on it, leaving it a “beautiful memory.”
Fuck, I need to get there ASAP before they tear it down!!!

My Perestroika

MY PERESTROIKA follows five ordinary Russians living in extraordinary times — from their sheltered Soviet childhood, to the collapse of the Soviet Union during their teenage years, to the constantly shifting political landscape of post-Soviet Russia. Together, these childhood classmates paint a complex picture of the dreams and disillusionment of those raised behind the Iron Curtain.

I can't wait to see this when it comes out in LA!

Nadia Plesner

From Nadia's website...."Simple Living is an idea inspired by the medias constant cover of completely meaningless things. My thought was: Since doing nothing but wearing designerbags and small ugly dogs appearantly is enough to get you on a magasine cover, maybe it is worth a try for people who actually deserves and needs attention... I felt horrified by the fact that even with the genocide and other ongoing atrocities in Darfur, Paris Hilton was the one getting all the attention. Is it possible that show business have outruled common sense?"

Well said.

Nadia is giving 100% of the profits from the T-shirt + poster to Divest for Darfur organization.

Apparently, due to the likeness of the bag that's in the t-shirt, Louis Vuitton is now suing Ms. Plesner for infringement and defamation! WTF!
Even when you're trying to save the world . . . you're getting beat down by the MAN!!!!

WSJ: Anna Wintour

A comprehensive interview with the one and only Anna Wintour:
Here are some of the highlights:
Vogue never released a statement of John Galliano's firing from Dior. Anna finally speaks about it, saying only, "This is all so tragic."
• When asked if
Vogue is "overly clubby," she replies, "I try to remain open to new people, but obviously there's a stronger element of trust with people you've known for a long time. I think we have a Vogue vocabulary, and there are certain people we like to have as the backbone of the magazine—Vogue's signposts. We try very hard to integrate the familiar signatures with people we feel are new and up-and-coming, but I would rather err on the side of being a little more familiar than being too ... What's the right word? ... Edgy."
• Her Condé Nast boss, S.I. Newhouse, agrees that she was late to get Vogue on the Interwebs. "She started the site reluctantly because she believes that the expression of Vogue's effectiveness is print," he says.
• Newhouse said "it's too early to say" if will be the No. 1 fashion outlet on the web, like Vogue is the No. 1 fashion outlet in print.
• Though Anna is 61, Newhouse refuses to think about her retirement: "I hope she's here 10 years from now, 20 years from now."

RIP Elizabeth Taylor
